Benquerencia is a small municipality in the region of the Sierra de Montánchez, in Cáceres. With only 79 inhabitants (INE 2022), it is a village that retains its charm thanks to its stone houses and the care of its residents, who participate in various initiatives to curb depopulation.

Benquerencia, which since the end of 2021 is one of the villages in which Asteo‘s ultrafast fiber optic is present, participates in the initiatives of the Mancomunidad Sierra de Montánchez, which promotes projects to curb rural depopulation through actions linked to tourism, culture and gastronomy.

The charm of this small town in Extremadura can be experienced every 9 and 10 August for the festivities of the Cristo del Amparo. The hermitage of the same name is one of the most emblematic buildings of Benquerencia thanks to its beautiful frescoes.

The visit to Benquerencia can also be completed with a pleasant walk in the surroundings to enjoy the scenery and trails that allow you to connect with nature. But Benquerencia is not only an ideal place to rest and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, it also has some gastronomic curiosities such as the “floretas extremeñas” that are usually present in its festivities.

Laura Díaz

Marketing & Communications Director

With 20 years of experience, Laura has developed the communication strategy for national and international companies. Since the official launch of ASTEO Red Neutra, she has led its communication and content strategy as an external consultant, until her incorporation to the team.

She started her career as a journalist in the IT sector. She specialised in Communication, advising companies in various sectors (banking, asset management, private equity, insurance and insurtech or telecommunications). She led Evercom's Financial Communication department, in charge of the area's growth strategy and the management of the team and clients.

She graduated in journalism from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, in Venezuela, took the ABC-UCM master's degree in journalism, and complemented her education with studies in International Business at Dublin Business School, and sustainability at the University of Cambridge.

Married to Santi, she is the mother of two children and, whenever she has some free time, she loves going swimming and to the cinema or enjoying long dinners with friends.
