Villangómez is a small town in Burgos that, with only 223 residents(INE 2022), has earned a place in the rural routes thanks to its murals and the well-known festival of El Pollogómezwhich this year will be held on August 18 and 19 with the participation of Green Silly Parrots, Pedrá, Charanga, El nido, Kitay and Muchachito.

This town, which will be served by Asteo Red Neutra ‘s ultrafast fiber since the end of 2022, has a very peculiar characteristic: it is the town that produces the most poultry meat in the whole country. Castilla y León; hence the birth of the folk music festival “El Pollogómez” in 2010.

 

Culture, Hiking and Vineyards

Villangómez is strategically located so that those who come to walk its mural route can also explore the trails that surround the town and connect with nature. In addition, being close to the famous Ribera del Duero wine region, wine lovers can take advantage of wine tastings and visits to nearby wineries.

A good time to visit this town is during the festivities in honor of its patron saints: San Cosme and San Damián, which combine cultural activities along with parties, costume contests, processions and religious celebrations. It is the most important celebration of the town and begins on the Friday closest to September 26 and ends on Sunday.
