Just 12 km from Segovia, in the heart of Castile and León, lies Adrada de Pirón, a small municipality that combines history, legend, and modernity. This rural enclave not only preserves the essence of Segovian villages but is also now connected to the world thanks to fiber optics.
Adrada de Pirón is steeped in legends such as that of Tuerto de Pirón, a famous 19th-century bandit who, according to lore, robbed the wealthy and churches to distribute the loot among the common people. This figure frequented the paths and hamlets of the area, and Adrada was one of his favorite spots for setting ambushes.
Although there is not an abundance of historical data on the municipality, it does preserve heritage elements of great value, such as:
-
The Shoeing Brake (Potro de Herrar), a traditional structure used for shoeing animals, which has been restored as a symbol of rural life from yesteryear.
-
The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, a simple and charming Romanesque temple built of limestone.
Adrada de Pirón is an example of how tradition and technology can coexist: it keeps its cultural identity alive while adapting to the present thanks to new connectivity infrastructures.
