What are consumers like in rural areas with less than 10,000 and 1,000 residents? These are some of the data provided by the ASTEO Observatory according to the responses of residents in areas of less than 10,000 and 1,000 inhabitants that do have Internet service.

  1. When looking for a service provider, consumers in rural areas are most interested in price and speed .
  1. But price is the key factor to hire the service .
  1. The larger the buyer, the more importance he places on technical support and/or service, supplier proximity and brand awareness.
  1. Younger people, between 18 and 34 years old, are the ones who give less importance to technical support.
  1. The star connection devices are cell phones, laptops and Smart TVs.
  1. Tablet or iPad users are 18 and 34 years old, while desktop PCs are the most used by those over 55 years old.
  1. 7 out of 10 workers in rural areas need the Internet for their daily work. And at least 4 out of 10 telecommute.
  1. Regardless of age or gender, the activities they do most are surfing the net and using e-mail (9 out of 10); using social networks, blogs or messaging (8 out of 10); dealing with the bank (7 out of 10) and watching movies, series or sports(6 out of 10).
  1. Watching movies/series and sports is fundamental for the youngest group, between 18 and 34 years of age, and they are also the ones who make the most transactions with the bank through the Internet.
  1. The use of the service for online training is more frequent among women and those between 18 and 44 years of age.
