There are already 64 towns that have the Asteo network in the province of Salamanca (100% of its planned first phase) and 70 will be reached in the first quarter of 2024. 92% of the connected populations have fewer than 1,000 inhabitants and nearly 77% do not exceed 500 inhabitants.
“We have connected more towns than initially planned in the province of Salamanca. The infrastructure deployed, in addition to a latest-generation ultra-fast fiber connection for the residents of these municipalities, will guarantee the connectivity necessary to boost the business sector and Public Administration, and will guarantee other services in this area that require
these facilities, such as services linked to 5G through mobile operator antennas. Our goal is that no area is left out of this process, regardless of its size or number of inhabitants,” explains Pedro Abad, CEO of Asteo Red Neutra.
For this deployment, Asteo Red Neutra has built to date 337 km of backhaul or intra-provincial trunk network. This network, being wholesale access, allows interested telecommunications operators to offer different connectivity services, including, among others, the connection of mobile phone antennas that require fiber connectivity to be able to deploy and offer important 5G services so that these regions are not left behind in this technological leap.
