Turégano, connected with ultra-fast fibre optic broadband

General

Turégano is a municipality and town in the province of Segovia, in the autonomous community of Castile and León, which is already enjoying ultra-fast fibre optic broadband thanks to the Asteo Red Neutra network. With a population of 1,007 inhabitants (INE 2025) and four outlying villages—La Cuesta, Aldeasaz, Berrocal and Carrascal—Turégano is located in the La Campiña area, in the valleys of the Pirón and Cega rivers.

The arrival of high-speed internet helps improve residents’ quality of life, boost local economic activity, and support remote working, entrepreneurship, and the digitalisation of homes and businesses in rural areas.

Historical heritage and natural surroundings

Turégano’s main landmark is its impressive Castle of Turégano, declared a historic-artistic site in 1931. Of ancient origins and with a history linked to figures such as Antonio Pérez, secretary to Philip II, the castle stands out for a unique feature: the Church of San Miguel is integrated within it.

Another major heritage landmark is the Church of Santiago Apóstol, of Romanesque origin. Its apse, partially visible from the outside, preserves inside highly valuable historical and artistic polychrome reliefs dating from the early 13th century. The church also houses an important collection of liturgical objects from former churches in the town.

Rural connectivity for living and working

Thanks to the rollout of ultra-fast fibre optic broadband in Turégano, the municipality is taking a decisive step towards digital connectivity, making it easier to access online services, education, healthcare services online, and new professional opportunities, without giving up its rural setting or its historical heritage.

ÚNICO Broadband Programme 2023

The rollout of ultra-fast fibre optic broadband in Turégano, Segovia, has been made possible thanks to financial support from the ÚNICO Broadband Programme 2023, promoted by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service and funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds.
