The opportunity to bring the Internet to Empty Spain

News

Bringing the network of networks to the home in rural areas in Spain has aroused the interest of international investment funds. Actualidad Económica reviews in this article the situation of these areas, which are home to 18% of the population and where fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) coverage is 60.5%, according to the FTTH Council Europe, and discusses the potential for investment in expanding connectivity in these areas.

Pedro Abad, CEO of Asteo Red Neutra, explains that “the lack of access to a quality connection and fast data transmission translates into the loss of a series of services that make certain localities unattractive as a location to develop a company or as a town to have a first or second residence”. Therefore, “we want to reach those areas that need this type of services and allow all operators, large and small, to have access through our infrastructures”.
