Cuéllar is a medieval village located about 60 km north of Segovia capital, 50 km south of Valladolid and 150 km from Madrid, making it an accessible destination from several major cities. This municipality of almost 10,000 inhabitants is known for its impressive historical heritage, its castle and its running of the bulls.
The Castle of Cuéllar -or castle of the Dukes of Alburquerque– is its most emblematic monument. Of medieval origin, it combines Gothic, Mudejar and Renaissance elements. It currently houses a tourist center and an exhibition on its history. This medieval fortress with Renaissance elements has had various uses over the centuries. Its Mudejar heritage is one of the most important in Castilla y León, with churches such as San Esteban, San Andrés and San Martín, the latter converted into the Mudejar Art Interpretation Center.
Despite its strong historical roots, Cuéllar has been able to adapt to the new times, preserving its essence while promoting cultural and gastronomic tourism. Events such as the running of the bulls in Cuéllar, the oldest in Spain and declared of International Tourist Interest, have evolved without losing their identity.
The town is also committed to sustainability and the promotion of its natural resources, such as the surrounding pine forests, ideal for hiking trails. In addition, its gastronomy, with roast lamb as the star dish, continues to be an attraction for visitors from all over the world.
Thanks to this combination of tradition and innovation, Cuéllar continues to be a living destination, looking to the future without forgetting its past and offering great possibilities for digital nomads, due to its ultra-fast fiber optic coverage to surf the Internet without interruptions.
UNICO Banda Ancha Segovia 2022 and 2024
The inhabitants of Cuéllar now have access to Asteo’s ultrafast fiber. This deployment has been made possible thanks to the financial support of the program #ÚNICO Banda Ancha Segovia 2022 and 2024 program, promoted by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Public Administration and financed by the European Union through Next GeneratioEU.
