Asteo Red Neutra, the first operator totally focused on developing state-of-the-art fiber optic infrastructures in rural environments, presented “Siembra Futuro Digital” at the XVI Aotec 2023 Technology Fair, held in Alicante.
“Siembra Futuro Digital” is to support, accompany and encourage the launch of new proximity operators in the most rural regions of Castilla y León and Extremadura, where Asteo is present through its backhaul (interprovincial network) and FTTH with XGSPON technology.
“Siembra Futuro Digital”.
“Asteo is firmly committed to the development of regional and county telecommunications operators as a lever to speed up digitalization in rural areas. The existence of local technology companies that cover territories with less than 10,000 inhabitants is one of the best tools to achieve the adoption of new technologies by SMEs, freelancers, and business fabric in general, as well as by municipalities, public administrations and residents of these populations,” says Pedro Abad, CEO of Asteo Red Neutra in relation to the program launched.
“Siembra Futuro Digital” seeks that local companies that have some relation with the technology sector, or that want to open new lines of business in the telecommunications sector, can count on all the necessary tools to become proximity operators.
It is an incubator that provides assistance to companies with the support of Asteo Service Enabler, Asteo Conecta and Asteo Ágora. The Asteo Service Enabler software for Internet connection is a platform for network management and operation and management of service provision resources over Asteo’s infrastructure.
Through “Asteo Conecta” the new proximity operator has options for different service packages so that it can design a convergent offer of ultrafast fiber, cell phone and/or landline.

“Asteo Ágora” focuses on supporting new operators in all the processes necessary for the development of their activity, such as systems and tools, service configuration, billing, CRM, technical support and training, as well as those related to business development strategies (marketing plan, branding, communication, etc).
Deployments in ultra-rural areas
Asteo Red Neutra is currently deploying its XGSPON fiber network in small municipalities in Castilla y León and Extremadura, most of them with less than 1,000 inhabitants, as they are the ones that have suffered the most from the decline in population and where fiber optics has taken the longest to reach. To date, the company is present in more than 260 municipalities and the objective, in this first phase, is to reach a total of 500. To this end, it has already developed 1,200 km of the 1,900 km interprovincial network.
