The UNICO – Broadband Program is an action that falls within the framework of Investment 1 of Component 15 of the Plan for the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience of the of the Spanish economy and is financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEUwith funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism established by Regulation (EU) 2021/241 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 February 2021.
Asteo Red Neutra was awarded the UNICO-Banda Ancha program for the provinces of Burgos (2022), Segovia (2022, 2023 and 2024) and Salamanca (2024). In the latter province it has also been awarded the subsidies for the execution of actions to improve connectivity in industrial estates, logistics centers and other areas of business concentration (2024).
With the Program for the Universalization of Digital Infrastructures for Cohesion – Broadband the public administration intends to move towards the generalization of public electronic communications networks with the capacity to provide very high speed broadband services (higher than 300 Mbps in both directions, with scalability up to 1 Gbps). This objective focuses on areas where there is currently inadequate coverage and where implementation is not foreseen in the next three years.
This effort will be reinforced by other initiatives within the framework of the PRTR, with the ultimate goal of achieving total universalization of digital connectivity infrastructures. This step is essential to achieve sustainable development through a complete digital transformation, which in turn leads to an increase in the well-being and quality of life of citizens. In addition, this measure is expected to promote greater efficiency and energy savings by facilitating the completion of procedures telematically, avoiding unnecessary travel.
The aid will be provided in the form of grants.
