Santa María del Campo, medieval jewel of Burgos, with fiber optics

Connected Villages

Located in the charming region of Arlanza, Santa María del Campo is a Spanish town and municipality in the province of Burgos, Castilla y León. This picturesque town, situated between the Arlanzón and Arlanza rivers, stands on a hill surrounded by vast farmland. With a rich history dating back to the early Middle Ages, Santa María del Campo has witnessed important historical and cultural events, preserving its heritage through monuments such as the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, an impressive Gothic construction that attracts architecture and history lovers, and the Casa del Cordón. In addition, the natural environment offers opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking and hiking, surrounded by a green and serene landscape.

This town of less than 300 inhabitants has fiber optics. Technology has transformed this medieval village into a modern, connected enclave. This advance ensures that residents and visitors alike can enjoy fast and reliable connectivity, facilitating teleworking, online education and access to advanced digital services. The fiber optic infrastructure complements the serenity and beauty of the rural setting, offering the best of both worlds.

The deployment in Santa María del Campo has been financially supported by the UNICO Broadband 2022 program, promoted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.
