La Losa: rural life with ultra-fast connectivity

Connected Villages

Located only 13 kilometers from Segovia capital, La Losa is a municipality with rural charm and a privileged natural environment, at the foot of the Sierra de La Mujer Muerta. With an average altitude of just over 1,000 meters and an area of 28 km², this Segovian town combines history, culture and nature, but also cutting-edge digital connectivity.

Thanks to its fiber optic access, La Losa has become a perfect place for those who want to:

Telework in a calm and healthy environment.

Start a digital or local business with a good connection.

Perform streamingvideoconferences or online training without interruptions.

Enjoy online video games, social networks or multimedia content with a seamless connection.

All this without giving up its rural soul and a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Mentioned for the first time in the year 967 as La Lausa, La Losa was part of the Sexmo de San Millán in the Comunidad de Ciudad y Tierra de Segovia. Later, in the 16th century, it was an important enclave for transhumant livestock, with a notable shearing ranch that housed 24,000 sheep per year.

Among its assets are the following:

The Church of San Juan Evangelista, a 15th century Gothic temple, declared BIC, with a valuable baroque altarpiece and unique pieces of sacred art.

The horseshoe colt, the 19th century train station and the restored bullring.

The hermitages of San Pedro and Virgen de Cepones, although privatized, are part of the architectural legacy.

Natural environments such as Peñagrada, Las Peñotas, the Fuente Salada and its proximity to the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park.

The deployment in La Losa del Cerro has been financially supported by the UNICO Broadband 2022 program, promoted by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration and funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.
