Fuentesoto: Charm and Ultrafast Connectivity

General

Fuentesoto, a charming village of 101 inhabitants in the province of Segovia, Castilla y León, boasts ultrafast fiber optic connectivity, as it is one of the municipalities where Asteo‘s neutral network has been deployed.

Located in the picturesque region of Tierra de Pinares, on the border with the provinces of Burgos and Valladolid, this municipality, belonging to the Community of Villa y Tierra de Fuentidueña, offers its residents and visitors high-speed connectivity.

Among its historical attractions, the ancient Visigothic church of San Gregorio stands out, located atop a hill with panoramic views of the village. This church, featuring Romanesque elements, preserves its ancient apse and Visigothic stone crosses. Recently restored, the bell tower has been adapted as a viewpoint, offering a unique experience to visitors.

Another point of interest is the hermitage of San Vicente Mártir, a 12th-century Romanesque building with a prominent apse and columnar decoration. Additionally, the village features the Baroque-style church of San Pedro, where liturgical services have been held since 1780.

The cultural aspect of Fuentesoto is reflected in its community life, with the social center of the San Vicente Residents’ Association serving as a central meeting point. Furthermore, the village houses caves on its outskirts and is located 4 kilometers from Tejares, known for the quality of its honey and the church of Santa María Magdalena.

For those wishing to stay, there are several accommodation options in rural houses or hostels in the surrounding areas.

Local festivities, such as the celebration of San Pedro Apóstol on June 29 and the San Vicente Fiestas in August, are notable events.

With its rich history and ultrafast connectivity, Fuentesoto presents itself as a destination that combines tradition with modernity.

The development of the fiber optic network in Fuentesoto has received financial support from the #ÚNICO Banda Ancha Segovia 2022 program, promoted by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function and funded by the European Union through Next Generation EU.
